Oliver East is one of my favourite illustrators at the moment. I recently saw his album cover for Elbows 'The Seldom Seen Kid' at the Manchester gallery and I loved the rawness of his style. He has also created a series of mini comics called 'Trains are mint' which are brilliantly illustrated diaries of his journey through the train stations of Manchester and the things that interesthim on the way. There is a sense of innocence in his artwork and writing which transport the reader back to their childhood. His subtle watercolour washes and ink lines are beautifully done together with hand written notes on each page which give this mini comic a more personal touch.
