Above all fun is the main motivation in everything I do, If I'm not enjoying something I seem to crash and burn or run head long into a brick wall. The Disney character brief hit all the right buttons for me and I hope to get my head round the animation side of it in time for the deadline which is not very far away.
Things I have learned:
Don't dismiss a daft idea
The biggest lesson I've learned on the last few projects is the importance of a sketchbook and getting down as many ideas as quickly as possible in the early stages. Since the Dialogue Ignites Change brief, I've learned to record every single idea that pops into my head even if it seems really daft. I think it's helped me to develop some interesting concepts and characters and it's nice to look back every once in a while and see how I'm progressing.
Step back for a while
It's really easy to hit a brick wall when you've been slaving over something for ages and don't seem to be getting anywhere. I've actually felt as if some days I've not achieved anything because I can't see the wood for the trees. I've learnt to take myself away for a while and then come back to it with a different perspective. Often other people can trigger an idea that you couldn't see before.
